Is It Slowing Down?

Is It Slowing Down?...

It almost seemed to easy to drop the weight I have since I started, but now I’m noticing the differences are smaller each day.  Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I’m going to have to shake things up a bit to keep up what I’ve done — and reach my goal. I’m hoping to increase my speed on the bike to get a better workout and possibly start doing different exercises — all while I continue...
25% Done

25% Done...

I managed to figure out that I am one-fourth of the way to my goal.  I’ve lost 18.8 pounds so far as of this Tuesday morning.  That means, of my goal to lose 74.8 pounds, I only have 56 more to go. It’s an exciting time, but there’s still a lot of work to do.  I’m noticing the bike is not tiring me out like it used to.  So I’m planning to adjust my workout a little to make sure my body...
Don’t Be Mad

Don’t Be Mad...

… but I want a Big Mac.  Really bad.  Not because I’m hungry or starving.  But because I like the taste.  And I miss it. I probably miss Chinese food more than fast food.  And really, the food I’m eating tastes great.  Like today, I had a Mexican-style lean cuisine.  An enchilada and rice.  And it was good. But there’s just something about a Big Mac.  I know, I know — a lot of you...
35 Minutes On The Bike

35 Minutes On The Bike...

Hello little guy holding up a sign!  Welcome back — because I reached another goal Friday.  When I started on the exercise bike, I had planned to only use it 20 minutes every day.  But since February 2, I’ve been adding one minute every day.  I’ve finally reached 35 minutes.  That’s most likely going to be a good duration on the bike, but I’ll just have to increase my distance.  What...
Eat More, Lose More Weight

Eat More, Lose More Weight...

Because I’m tracking almost every part of this drastic change, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend.  The more I eat during the day (but not carried-away eating), the more I seem to be losing. This can only be happening because of one thing.  The body needs energy to burn calories and fat, and it gets energy from food.  If I don’t put enough food in, the body’s metabolism process doesn’t start...
Milemarker 15

Milemarker 15...

Much to my surprise, I’m finally at the point where I can say I’ve lost 15 pounds.   I’m only going by how much I weighed when I first purchased my own scale, which was February 2. What I expected to be my biggest problem from the beginning — the lack of exercise — is only helping me to reach my goal faster.  That exercise, along with smaller (more normal) portions, is also helping me...
I’m Starting To Notice

I’m Starting To Notice...

I wondered how long it would take before I noticed any physical changes.  But now, after nearly three weeks, I am noticing the difference. And what really made my day yesterday, my hair stylist said, “Wow, it’s like you’ve lost 10 pounds.”  That was before we even discussed what I was doing.  I can understand someone saying this after I tell them I’m working on losing weight.  But before? Or...
20 Days

20 Days...

It’s been 20 days of daily exercise and healthier eating.  And what started out as a five-mile bike ride at 20 minutes has turned into a nearly 10-mile ride at 30 minutes. I’m learning more and more about food and calories and weight loss every day. I’ve also managed to take some “BEFORE” pictures - ick - which no one will be seeing, ever. What’s more, I haven’t died.  Exercise...
What Just Happened?

What Just Happened?...

After reading the scale this morning, I found my 13-day streak of losing weight has ended.  I’m up four-tenths of a pound since yesterday morning’s weigh in.  I’ll have to make some slight adjustments to make sure this doesn’t happen again. In all honesty, I knew this would happen at some point.  I just didn’t think it would happen so early into my project. Maybe it’s not the greatest...
Valentine’s Day: The Love of Food

Valentine’s Day: The Love of Food...

Valentine’s Day:  The day of love, gifts, kisses, and dinner reservations.  Most people go all out on Valentine’s Day.  Fancy dinners at fancy restaurants with fancy high-calorie food.  Or maybe that’s just what I’ve done in Valentine’s days past. I couldn’t ruin my restaurant-free streak or my healthy eating streak — so instead I spent Valentine’s Day at home with my...
