Down Fifty Pounds

Down Fifty Pounds...

As of this morning, I’m 50 pounds lighter than I was when I first began this journey.  While I’m still not quite at my overall goal, this is one of those baby goals I have to stop and admire for a bit. What has happened: I’m eating more regular sized portions I’m exercising every day I’ve gone from a size XXL shirt to L I’ve gone from size 38 jeans to 34 I’ve gone through two...
I Shouldn’t Be Doing This, Or Should I?

I Shouldn’t Be Doing This, Or Should I?...

I’m proud of myself.  For coming this far in my weight loss journey.  But I am a little upset with myself.  For letting it get this out of control. You see, there’s no good explanation for why I’ve had to even embark on this journey.  I could be blogging about something else, but somehow I managed to ignore my lack of exercise and disregard the food I’d put into my body. Looking back, I can’t...
Getting There

Getting There...

Slowly, but surely, I’m getting closer to my goal.  As of this morning, I’m about 26 pounds away from reaching my ideal (goal) weight of 180 pounds.  While I’m noticing the weight loss slow down, I am still noticing my shirts, pants and belt getting bigger.  In a way, that’s a better sign than the number going down on the scale. Can I tell you something?  I like being noticed.  Not just me,...
Where Did The Rest Of Me Go?

Where Did The Rest Of Me Go?...

Now that I’ve lost a significant amount of weight (48 pounds as of this post), I’m starting to wonder where it all went?  Recently I’ve heard a phrase from people who think they’re sharing some new information with me: “You’ve lost a lot of weight!” I usually reply, “I know, and I can’t find it anywhere!” And it’s true.  I was wondering last night where...
The Twitter Diet

The Twitter Diet...

Many kudos to Mary at AOL Health for this great article!  I had been contacted on my blog to participate in this story, but was unable to due to other circumstances.  You already know my story anyway.  Take a look at these awesome success stories of others who have used Twitter and blogs to lose weight. They’re a great inspiration to the many people out there wondering, “Can I really do this?” The...
Staying Below The Line

Staying Below The Line...

I learned a little bit about trends recently.  And so far, I’ve managed to stay below my trending weight.  And that’s a good thing.  If I’m under the line, I’m losing weight. There’s a confusing formula set to determine this, but from the chart TweetWeight creates for me, you can see my daily weigh in (blue) has been consistently under the trend line (orange).  And hey, if this is just...
Why I Won’t End Up Like The Biggest Loser

Why I Won’t End Up Like The Biggest Loser...

I’ve been reading stories about how former contestants on The Biggest Loser have gone back to their old ways.  Once leaving the show and the convenience of an on-site gym, trainers and healthy food — incredible amounts of weight come back to haunt these former players. So how do I know this won’t happen to me once I’ve reached my goal weight? Motivation While some contestants on The Biggest Loser...
Weekend Fun

Weekend Fun...

I tend to “slip” a little on the weekends.  Or maybe I let myself slip.  The good thing is I love it!  While I’m not scarfing unhealthy food left and right, I’m treating myself a little for all the hard work I put in during the week. Looking at my progress report this month, it does affect my weight a small amount.  But it’s nothing significant and nothing that hasn’t happened on...
Exercise: Day 80

Exercise: Day 80...

I’m on my eightieth consecutive day of exercising, which mainly consists of my stationary bike ride.  What started out as a few miles in 20 minutes has turned into 14 miles in nearly 45 minutes. The weather is getting nicer, and I’m looking for a mountain bike to use on the bike trail outside.  And I’m looking for a bowflex.  Look at me be all ambitious. Something else I’m working on is my pushups....
