January 24, 2009 - Check out my photos page for an updated picture of me because this is disgusting.
I embarked on a journey in late January 2009, determined to lose enough weight to keep me out of the obese category. The other catch would be to make it as affordable as possible. That meant, no weight loss pills, no crazy meal plans, and no gym memberships. Not that those things are bad; I just want to prove that weight loss is possible no matter your budget.
Avoiding fast food and soda helped me lose 30 pounds before college, but the pressure of college and work environments where I sit constantly did not help me keep that weight off.
For a few months before I began this journey, I slowly started changing my eating habits. I eliminated soda and fast food from my diet. My main issue was exercise.
So far, this blog has helped to keep me accountable for what I eat and how often I exercise.
I hope you’ll follow my progress and leave notes of encouragement and support as I work to reach a healthy weight and better lifestyle.
*** UPDATE ***
January 9, 2010: After five months (Feb to June 09), I was able to drop 60 lbs. and since then, I’ve maintained a weight of about 195 lbs. The next part of this journey will be to reach a weight I’m happy with. Whether it’s 180 or 160, I’m determined to continue the healthy food choices and exercise in efforts of reaching my goal. I’ll do my best to update this blog with my progress as time allows.
